Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony: Over 112.9 million kyats worth offertories donated

State Administration Council organized a Ceremony to offer Kathina Robe at Sasana Beikmandaw in UppaSandhi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

The ceremony was graced by 27 members of the Sangha led by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Patron Sayadaw of Bamaw Monastery in Mandalay Dr. Bhandanda Kumara Bhivamsa, Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Patron Sayadaw of MinKyaungPahtamaPyanSarthintaik Dr BhandandaSandhimaBhivamsa  of Thanlyin.

State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing paid homage to the Buddha image and offered emerald alms bowl, flowers, water, light and fruits. The Prime Minister and party later viewed round the displays of Kathina robes, donated items and offertory stands.

The congregation led by the Prime Minister later received the Five Precepts from the BamawSayadaw, and listened to the Parittas, recited by the Sayadaws. The Prime Minister and wife then donated Kathina Robes and offertories to the BamawSayadaw and MasoeyeinTaikThitSayadaw.

Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife also donated Kathina Robe and offertories to the ThanLyinMinKyaung Monastery Sayadaw. It was followed by the donations of Kathina Robes and offertories to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha by the Secretary of the State Administration Council, Joint Secretary, members and their wives and senior military officers.

The congregation led by the Prime Minister and party later listened to the sermon delivered by ThanLyinMinKyaung Monastery Sayadaw and shared the merits gained. After the ceremony, day meal was offered to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha. Over 112.9 million kyats worth offertories and cash donation have been made during the ceremony.
