



Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win held talks with concerned officials of the Thilawa Special Economic Zone Management Committee.
In the meeting at the meeting hall of the Committee, the Vice-Senior General heard reports on matters including history of the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, progress, current situation, investment issues, challenges and plans.
In his response, the Vice-Senior General stressed that the Thilawa Special Economic Zone is assisting the plan to address the impact of the COVID-19 on the country’s economy. He called on officials to make efforts to increase the production of products and exports, and Kyaukphyu and Dawei Special Economic zones also need to be successfully completed as soon as possible.
Regarding the Financial Action Task Force’s statement, the Central Bank has already officially clarified, and if necessary, the Central Bank will come to erase doubts about the normal flow of money and the normal operation of the country's economy.
Brochures to attract more foreign direct investments need to be disseminated in the languages of Russia, China and other interested countries in the region. He also stressed importance of connection with MSME and special economic zones. Regarding security for the entire zone, security companies need to be recruited through a tender system.
Special economic zones are mainly supporting the economy of the country, he added. After the meeting, the Vice-Senior General viewed the products on display produced by the Thilawa Special Economic Zone and gave necessary instructions.
Also, he visited the KUBOTA Myanmar Co., Ltd in the zone. It is reported that 114 companies from 21 countries have made investments in this Thilawa Special Economic Zone.
