Electoral Affairs: UEC Chairman attends General Assembly of A-WEB

At the invitation of Electoral Commission of South Africa and Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB), the Myanmar delegation led by Chairman of the Union Election Commission (UEC) U Thein Soe attended the 5th General Assembly of the A-WEB.
The delegation attended the Assembly from the 17th to the 22nd of October and arrived back in Yangon on Sunday. It’s reported that during the assembly attended by over 140 electoral representatives from 63 countries, Electoral Commission of South Africa and Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB), handing over the A-WEB flag to the Electoral Commission of South Africa, who will act as the new chair and voting and approval for the appointment of the country who will serve as A-WEB's vice chair and executive board members were carried out. It also included the "Safeguarding Election Management Bodies in the Age of Global Democratic Recession" conference with five topics.
In addition, A-WEB’s works to promote the good practices of the democratic system in elections in various countries of the world, and the conditions for cooperation in improving the role of the electoral management groups in line with the democratic system were discussed.
