




Yangon Region representing team in the 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition ranked first prize among the contestants from 14 regions and states.
242 contestants from Yangon Region took part in the competition and competed in the 359 different subjects of the performing arts.
The Regional Government organized a ceremony to honour the winning contestants on 21st October.
Htay Aung, Advocate General, Yangon Region Government said "Yangon Region representing team ranked top among the contestants from 14 regions and states. The competition has not been held for more than half a decade, and we really appreciate the State Administration Council for organizing this competition. All the contestants also tried their best with eagerness to participate in this competition."
Yangon Region Team won 79 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze medals as well as 3 consolation prizes, altogether 127 medals.
Winning Contestant, Yangon Region Representing Team, Phoo Phoo Maw said "I won one gold and one silver medals in the Variety Show and Mon Traditional Group Dance contests. We have practiced for about a month for the variety show and for about two weeks for the Mon Traditional Group Dance. I’m really happy for winning the medals."
Winning Contestant, Yangon Region Representing Team, Thae Ei Ei Thwe said "I competed in the Women (15-20) Xylophone Contest. I’m really happy for winning the gold medal. I have tried my best to win this medal."
Winning Contestant, Yangon Region Representing Team, Swan Yi Htet said "In the regional level competition, I competed in the contests for Classical Music, Modern Oldies and the song promoting the patriotic spirit. And I won bronze medal in the classical music, silver medal in the modern oldies and gold medal in the patriotic song contest. So, I competed in the singing contest for the patriotic song in the Central Level, and won gold medal."
Over 1,800 contestants participate in the Central level contests of the 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition that has been held from October 11th to 18th.
