Attack in Kawkareik: Civilians died and injured due to the attack

KNU/ KNLA units under the Brigade (6), KKO Separatist Group and PDF Terrorists, a subordinated of NUG/ CRPH launched an attack at Kawkareik in Kayin State on Friday.

At around 7:00 am in the morning, KKO and PDF fired heavy weapons from north of the town. They then opened fire at the residential areas, staff housings and office buildings at around 8:15 am. They launched a coordinated attack at Khin Nein Mu Housing Gate (3), Abaw Phayakone and KyaungSharKone staff housings and road security gates along the Township main road.

Apart from the staff housing areas, the terrorists retreated and run away at around 10:00 am. Terrorists who took covered in the staff housings, and human barrier, the security forces have to control and make counter attack in a limit manner in order not to harm the public and residential buildings. The terrorists retreated and run away at around 3:00 pm.

The military columns are pursuing attack to the terrorists who retreated to the north and east sides of Kawrareik with the help of air force, artillery and armored vehicles. It is reported that three civilians have died and 16 others injured at the time of report. The security forces provided health care services to the injured persons, and are carrying out the security measures to protect the lives of the civilians and service personnel.
