Attack in Kawkareik: KKO & PDF opened fire at residential areas, office buildings

KKO Separatist Group and PDF Terrorists, a subordinated of NUG/ CRPH launched an attack at Kawkareik in Kayin State on Friday.

At around 7:00 am in the morning, KKO and PDF fired heavy weapons from north of the town. They then opened fire at the residential areas, staff housings and office buildings at around 8:15 am. It is reported that some civilians and service personnel have injured due to the attack.

The security forces provided health care services to the injured persons,and are carrying out the security measures to protect the lives of the civilians and service personnel. A Joint Group of KKO separatist group and PDF terrorist have carried out brutal acts of terrorism against civilians who are not related to the military and who are living peacefully in residential areas and the service personnel who are fulfilling their duties.

According to the Geneva Conventions and international law, they have committed a war crime. It has been reported that the security forces will carry out counter-terrorism action in order to take effective action against them in accordance with the Counter Terrorism Law and the existing laws related to the Penal Code.
