





Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is striving to provide better services to the tourists by opening language training to those working in the industry.
On Wednesday, Union Minister Dr Htay Aung attended a Chinese Speaking Class, jointly organized by Beijing based ASEAN-China Center and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism in conjunction with the capacity building workshop.
The Union Minister said the Ministry is cooperating with the ASEAN-China Center for tourism development since 2011.
After resuming of commercial flights in April this year, Chinese tourists are the most visited among the tourists. It is expected to receive more tourists from China in this open season. Since China is the most promising market for Myanmar, and the speaking class and workshop could help promote the capacity of the involved persons in tour industry.
The Union Minister urged all to try their utmost efforts for development of tourism sector. A total of 120 trainees attended the workshop which will continue on the 20th. Later in the day, the Union Minister attended a coordination meeting on promoting cooperation for Myanmar-Russia tourism industry.
The Union Minister discussed that Myanmar has abundant natural landscapes with beautiful beaches and many attractive destinations for tourists. To attract more tourists from Russia, one year visa exemption for Russian tourists have been granted starting July this year. Russian speaking classes have also been conducted for providing better services to the tourists.
Plans are underway to participate in the International Tourism Exhibition to be held in Russia. He stressed to promote cooperation for development of tourism sector between the two countries, and invited the investments form Russia in hotels and tourism industry.
