MSME development: Union Minister visited 200-tonne rice mill in Myaungmya

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and Chief Minister of Ayeyawady Region U Tin Maung Win on Sunday viewed agriculture and livestock based foodstuffs produced by micro, small and medium scale enterprise-MSME in Ayeyawady Region as a gesture of honouring the World Food Day.

The Union minister and the chief minister visited the Khaing Phyo Kyaw rice mill at the industrial zone in Myahema Ward of Myaungmya Township and then viewed round dryers, paddy husk warehouse, paddy husk briquette factory and power station.

The 200-tonne rice mill started running from December 2021 to date and sends rice to Asian and European countries via Yangon and to Bangladesh via Pathein port. They also visited the paddy husk-fired power station on Myaungmya River to generate 1.6 megawatts and pledged to fulfill the needs of the plant for timely generating electricity.

Upon completion, the power plant will supply electricity to two 100-tonne factories for operations in Myaungmya industrial zone and feed surplus electricity to the national grid. They also visited Myaungmya central research farm of the Agricultural Research Department and viewed research paddy farms and harvesting process.

The Union Minister and the Chief Minister also inspected agriculture and livestock based foodstuff production project on Yangon-Pantanaw-Wakema Road in Pantanaw Township and viewed production of fish farming process, fish based value-added products and arrangements for food safety measures.

Global Earth Co., Ltd spent K200 billion including US$88.482 million on the project with the strength of some 5,000 labours. It will generate jobs for some 3,000 local people. Upon completion, the project will have export income for marine products and foodstuff exportation.

They viewed round placing of 1,700 feet long concrete road from the archway of Pathein University to Ingyin Hall. While in Pathein, they inspected services of library and child reading room and training sessions at Pathein District Information and Public Relations Department, and met with staff from district and township IPRDs, Pathein retransmission station and Ethnic TV crew. The Union minister urged them to present peace and stability of Ayeyawady Region and development measures.
