














Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi who accompanied in the SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing’s visit to the Russian Federation, attended the 2nd International Tiger Conservation Forum held in the FEFU Campus in Vladivostok together with the Director-General of the Forest Department U Htay Aung.
Officials from 14 countries participated in the Forum. After opening the forum with cultural dances by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, four Union Ministers stamped and signed the date for releasing the tiger stamp and toured the commemorative booth.
Then, the Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered an opening speech at the plenary session of the forum. Out of 14 nations where tigers are inhabiting, the Russian Minister of Justice, the Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of Myanmar and deputy minters and directors general of the remaining countries discussed measures undertaken by the nations.
The Union Minister also discussed tiger conservation in Myanmar, expansion of natural conservation areas, including tiger pasture areas, the number of tiger population recorded in Myanmar in 2021-2022, the use of funds under the Wildlife Habitat Restoration Program, cooperation with local and foreign organizations in drafting plan for 2020-2025 tiger population conservation in Myanmar, the expected outcomes of the World Tiger Conservation Plan and future programs.
In the afternoon, they continued to discuss the topics on the importance role of the locals in carrying out tiger conservation practices. Then, the forum concluded with a remark by the Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov.
