







Arrangements are being made for high yield of long-staple cotton and boosting production for the development of cotton production in garment manufacturing in local in addition to the food surplus of the nation.
Efforts are being made to standardize cotton procurement and obtaining quality strain and inputs.
It was said by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo while meeting with cotton millers in Pyigyi Tagun Industrial Zone-1 in Mandalay Region on Monday.
The Union Minister and party viewed production of cotton seeds and cotton bales in private cotton millers of Pyigyitagun Industrial Zone-1.
In response to the reports of officials, the Union Minister discussed that the contract farming system needs to be implemented in forming groups by cotton growers and private entrepreneurs related to cotton and it will bring benefits by providing strains and inputs that are necessary for farmers.
The Union Minister added that if the vegetable oil can be produced by refining raw oil including cotton seed oil and sunflower oil with full label according to the needs of consumers, it will benefit both producers and consumers in the market and the Ministry and relevant ministries are providing assistance.
From there, the Union Minister and party visited private weaving factory in Yay Kyi Pauk village, Amarapura Township and discussed production of cotton clothes due to the market demand and purchasing cotton and silk threads from local and abroad to product finished products and observed weaving of cotton clothes and cotton dying processes.
