Illegal Trade: Illegal Teak, Personal Goods, Vehicles Seized

An effective action is being taken against offenders to prevent illicit trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. On 1 September, an on-duty inspection team under the supervision of the Customs Department captured 200 cans of Leica Paraplast Plus at the airport cargo garage at the Yangon International Airport.

A combined inspection team arrested a Yamaha motorcycle without licence in Shwebo, Sagaing Region. On 2 September, a combined team comprising official of the Customs department seized household electronic devices from a container, not declared at the ID at the Asia World Container Inspection Camp.

An on-duty inspection team nabbed cartons of Dali Beers and Loutus flower detergents without official documents and a Nissan 12-wheel truck at Mehan checkpoint on Lashio detour, Shan State. A combined team from officials of various departments confiscated industrial materials, which were not included in ID from a container at Myanmar Industrial Port container inspection camp.

A combined team led by Bago Region Forest Department nabbed illegal teak at Khabaung forest reserve in Ottwin Township of Toungoo District. On 3 September, a combined team under the super vision of Customs Department of Shan State conducted inspection at Yaypu checkpoint. They found a Suzuki swift near the Yaypu checkpoint and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures. 

Therefore, nine cases at estimated value of 57.35 million Kyats were taken action from 1 to 3 September, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
