







The cable and fiber lines that have been stringed without the permission by Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) and the Department of Posts and Telecommunication are being removed.
YESC announced detail plans to remove the illegal cable and fiber lines with their own arrangements in November 2021.
All the operator companies have already notified for the removal of the illegal cable lines.
At present, 5 companies have been granted permission for stringing cable and fiber lines in line with the rules and regulations of YESC, and also there are the operator companies, signing contract with the Department of Posts and Telecommunication.
Kyaw Thu, Chief Executive Officer, Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation said "Starting from 2017, a total of 5 companies was allowed to string cable and fiber lines with rules and regulations by YESC. Among them, our Corporation allowed 3 companies to string main cable lines with the permission of up to 900 kilometers. Besides, there are operator companies which and are implementing the works to string cable and fiber lines by signing the contract with the Posts and Telecommunication Department. The State and regional governments instruct to carry out the beautifying tasks to be in conformity with the city’s characteristics such as to be clean and beautiful. So, the untidy cable lines affect the city’s image."
YESC added that the removal process is carried out to meet the city’s characteristics and to avoid the electricity shortage by overloading the durability of lamp posts.
