Systematic Use Of Pesticides: Pesticide Registration Board Holds Its 37th Meeting

The Pesticide Registration Board (PRB) held its 37th meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation on Tuesday.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Pesticide Registration Board Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi said that the PRB is supervising in order to effectively use high-quality and safe pesticides and not to contain pesticide residues in the exports in using pesticides which are an input helping to improve the yield of export crops.

The Deputy Minister stressed the needs on free from pesticide residues by reviewing from various points of views for the food safety and not to effect on trade opportunities. The secretary of the Board reported on the detailed work plans to be discussed at the meeting.

The Pesticide Registration Board meetings started since 1993 and it had been 36th times until 11th May 2022. A total of 3,987 pesticides have been allowed to register until the end of 36th meeting. At the 37th meeting, the approval for 86 kinds of pesticides which were submitted by members of the Pesticide Technical Committee was discussed.
