




Win Pho village in Myeik township, Thaninthayi Region has been chosen to implement as a smart village.
The project will be implemented by the Department of Rural Development in Win Pho village with the aim for narrowing development gap, improving living standard of the locals, boosting economy and encouraging to development of green economy in the region.
Aung Kyaw Oo, District Head , Rural Development Dept. (Myeik) said "We have selected Win Pho village to implement as a smart village because it has potentials for development in agriculture and livestock, smooth transportation and strategic place for business. The villagers are interested in agriculture and livestock sectors, good experiences in working and it is a peaceful village under the Rule of Law.There are about 1,600 acres of paddy cultivation and about 104 acres of orchard farms and in livestock sector, there are 151 cows, 104 buffalos and 487 pigs in Win Pho village. We will also support new techniques in agriculture and livestock sectors and input finance service for the villagers."
Win Pho village has 200 households with over 1,000 population and the locals work farming, gardening, breeding and trading for their livelihood. The smart village project will be implemented during 2022-2023 fiscal year in cooperation with concerned departments and the project implementation period will be 2 years.
