Smooth Transportation: Phayagyi-Mawlamyine-Kawthaung road section upgraded

Phayagyi-Mawlamyine-Dawei-Myeik-Bokpyin-Kawthaung road section is a part of the National Highway linking the south to north. Local people use that highway and other linking roads for their business trade. Department of Highways in Kawthaung has been upgrading the Bokpyin-Kawthoung section of the National Highway (NH-1). 

Kawthaung is one of the border gates in the southern part of Myanmar and it is the southern part of the National Highway. That’s why, the Department is carrying out this road section for better transport access to the people.

Assistant Director, Department of Highways, Kawthaung, Kyaw Swa Htay said "Now, we are constructing the Phayagyi-Mawlamyine-Dawei-Myeik-Bokpyin-Kawthaung road section of the National Highway. For sustainable in the long term, we maintain to keep the original road quality as the guide lines of our head-office. We are also upgrading processes year by year and the maintenance tasks are our first priority.  Because of that, people can use the road for travelling and trading smoothly. "

According to the official, the National Highway is the main transportation road from Yangon to Taninthayi region. The Department will continue to upgrade the road as the Asphalt concrete (AC) road in 2022-2023 fiscal year.
