Resource Management: Meeting for coastal resource management in Bago Region

Bago Region’s Coastal Resource Management Committee held its meeting 1/2022 at the regional government office in Bago Township.

During the meeting, Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win said that Kawa, Thanatpin Township and War Township are connected to the sea and fall within the Bell-Mouth.

During the rainy season, farm and village lands are being destroyed and lost due to erosion from the Sittaung River, tide and bank collapse.

In order to protect the situation, the regional government is carrying out bamboo pole wave protection and bamboo pole spillway works.

Administrative bodies, concerned departments and the locals have to cooperate for the mangrove forest sustainability, conservation and protection.

He called on attendees to continue coastal and marine resource protection and awareness activities for the elimination of sea water pollution and the orderly disposal of waste.

The meeting continued with reports by the Bago region resources minister and many other officials regarding the works by the Coastal Resource Management Committee and implementation of decisions made by the Coastal Resource Management Central Committee and Work Committee.

The Chief Minister decided and approved the submissions to be submitted to meetings of the Coastal Resource Management Central Committee and Work Committee.
