Pakokku Literary Award: 28th Pakokku Literary Award presenting ceremony held

28thPakokku Literary Award presenting ceremony was held at the meeting hall of the Printing and Publishing Department in Yangon on Friday.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended the ceremony and gave a speech.

Pakokku Literary Award presenting ceremony established by Pakokku U Ohn Pe has been held annually since 1992 to help the writers to be able to produce books, to develop the library and the literacy of the nation.

Lifetime Literary Award Winner, Mg Swe Thet said "I won Lifetime Literary Award. I have been writing poems and books since I was a teenager. I’m happy to receive the prize. I would like to encourage people to support the writers to develop the literacy of our nation."

The officials presented 19 prizes in 6 categories including lifetime literary Award, novels and short stories.

Pakokku Library Book Award Winner, Dr. Nyo Aung said "I received Pakokku U Ohn Pe Library Book award. Pakokku library was establish by U Ohn Pe and it’s one of the biggest libraries in Myanmar. Many kinds of novels, poems, magazines and reference books for the universities can be found in the library."

Collected Short Stories Winner, Htet Wai Aung (Sagaing) said "I won third prize in category of collected short stories. I’m very happy to receive the prize as it’s one of the prizes I always wanted to receive."

First Prize Winner, Tin Taw said "I won a first prize with my book which encourage our young generation to be able to create better future for them. I’m very grateful to receive the prize."

The winners of Pakokku U Ohn Pe Scholarship were also presented awards during the ceremony.
