




Ministry of Construction is implementing urban housing, road and bridge projects for the development of the nation collaborating with the respective regions and states governments. The Bayargyi-Mawlamyine-Dawe-Myeik-Bokepyin-Kawthaung road section of National Highway (NH 1) has been conducting by Road Special Task Force (23).
Director, Department of Road Construction (Tanintharyi), Thet Zaw Win said "National Highway in Tanintharyi region runs 495 miles and 4 furlongs from south to north. We are conducting the developing projects systematically to meet the international standards by cooperating with the relevant departments as it’s also a part of ASEAN Highway. Plans are underway to upgrade the road to ensure the safety and efficient travel of the increasing numbers of vehicles in future. "
Deputy Director, Department of Road Construction, Kyaw Lin said "The 50 miles and 5 furlongs of the road section that we are conducting have upgraded to Asphalt Concrete road which is 24 feet wide. We will upgrade the rest of the section according to the fund allocated annually. Plans are underway to conduct AC paving and bridge construction programmes soon. We also try our best to put enough road furniture in conducting road developing projects to ensure the safety of the people."
Tanintharyi Region is full of coast areas and famous pagodas so it’s one of the favorite places for many foreign and local visitors. As the road infrastructure within the region has been developed, the visitors can travel to the region more conveniently.
