Pilot Project: Electronic fishing licenses to be issued

Fishing licenses are going to be issued using electronic system in the beginning of coming season by the Fisheries Department.

Fishing Entrepreneurs need own email account and original NRC card when applying electronic fishing license, said Deputy Director from Kawthoung District Fisheries Department. 

Deputy Director, Kawthoung District Fisheries Department, Tin Htut said "As the offshore fishing license period is from September 1st to August 31st, we are planning to issue fishing licenses with electronic system in the beginning of coming season for the fishing entrepreneurs as the pilot project. They need to have personal email account and original NRC card. First, prior to the implementations, we give the trainings to department staff for licensing process and then they give the multiplier training courses back to fishing entrepreneurs for easy understanding."

Efforts are being made for the fishery products to be authorized in line with international rules and disciplines. 

Deputy Director, Kawthoung District Fisheries Department, Tin Htut said "For the sustainable production and consumption of fishery resources, our fisheries department is implementing for the fisheries products to become authorized from official fishing association and to be in line with international rules and regulations by monitoring the fishery vessels with Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) since 2018."

The Fisheries Department is monitoring inshore and offshore fishing businesses to make with the ordered rules and regulations to be able to produce and use of fishery resources sustainably in Kawthoung district.
