



There are 3,858 small scale industries in total which are registered at the Department of Small-Scale Industries [Yangon] under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Development of Rural Areas. The owners need to register their small-scale businesses not only to expand their business within the country but also to penetrate the international market.
Head, Department of Small-Scale Industries (Yangon), Thet Naing Oo said "The business owners can register their businesses and do laboratory test for their food and consumer products at our department systematically. The cottage industries which have 9 workers and use under 5 horsepower capacity, and cottage handicraft industries which have more than three workers can register."
The head added that every business owner is welcomed to Small-Scale Industries Department to register the business by themselves as the department is trying its best to help and support them in growing their businesses.
The Department of Small-Scale Industries also helps the business owners who want to enter international market by cooperating with the foreign organizations and relevant departments.
