China donated 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Myanmar through ASEAN, and the handover ceremony took place at the Residence of the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar in Yangon on Thursday.

At present, Myanmar is producing the local made Myancopharm vaccine with the assistance of China.

The Ambassador stressed to continue to provide much-needed help to Myanmar through various channels.

Ambassador, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Yangon, H.E. Chen Hai said “One of the most important things of China-Myanmar joint ventures to prevent COVID-19 disease is to produce the COVID-19 vaccines in Myanmar. Currently, Myanmar local people are being vaccinated with Myanmar made COVID-19 vaccines and we can see the good results. The name of the Myanmar local made vaccines is Myancopharm. In here, I want to explain about the meaning of that, Myan- is Myanmar, Co- is Cooperation and Pharm means Sinopharm. The Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Health Myanmar have been able to carry out the standard of production of these vaccines production.  That can show clearly demonstration of China-Myanmar cooperation.”

China is actively practicing the concept of the global community of health for all, and it has now provided more than 600 million doses of vaccines to ASEAN countries.
