Tourism Development: Number Of Visitors Increases In Sagaing Region

Sagaing Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism is making efforts for development of tourism sector in the region.

Sagaing Region possesses many tourist attraction places to visit.

The regional authorities also plan to expand the tourism industry while creating more business opportunities for local people and also for the safety of the visitors.

Head, Sagaing Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, Myint Sein said “In SagaingRegion, 60 hotels and guest houses are providing services to the visitors with 2,040 rooms. Among them, 13 hotels and guest houses were closed temporarily currently. Total numbers of visitors who stayed in those hotels are 9,952 in May and 8,500 visitors from 21st to 28th June. The numbers of visitors are increasing month by month during this year.”

To provide better services to the visitors, the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism conducts the training courses.

Moreover, barrier free tourism is also provided in the famous tour destinations for the convenience of the persons with disabilities.

Head, Sagaing Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism,  Myint Sein said “Sagaing Region is famous for tourist attraction places like Soon U Pon Nya Shin Pagoda, KaungHmuDaw Pagoda, Mingun and Nan Taw Yar. These places have regular guest entry.”

From January to May this year, the number of visitors to the region was over 39,000 including local and foreign tourists. The average entry of visitors per day is around 25, and it generated over 487 million kyat and over 12,000 US Dollars.
