A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit about 20 miles north of Monghpyak Township on Thursday, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The moderate earthquake in the eastern Shan State with a depth of 6 kilometers occurred at about 1:24 a.m. Myanmar Standard Time.
