Waso Chinlone Festival: Mandalay will begin the festival on 28th this month

The 94th Buddha Pujaniya Waso Chinlone (Cane Ball) festival of Maha Muni Pagoda will begin on 28th this month and 204 cane ball teams will participate in the event.

The event aims to cherish Myanmar traditional cane ball game and preservation of traditional cane ball playing in order not to vanish. The cane ball festival will be held until 13th July for 16 days from 6 am to 6 pm daily. About 20 cane ball teams will show their playing skills per day.

A dramatic performance on the ground will be staged at 11 am and 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays in the pagoda festival.

In the past, the Waso Cane Ball festival was held with over 1000 teams for 2 months a year. Enthusiast from foreign countries took part in the event yearly and Myanmar cane ball experts also went to abroad to teach cane ball playing technique to foreigners.
