
The Ministry of Construction has now completed construction of the Gwa Creek Bridge and will be commissioned into service soon.
The Bridge on Gwa-Kyaukchaun Road in Gwa Township of Rakhine State is to link to Ngayokekaung in Ngaputaw Township of Ayeyawaddy Region as a part of the Ngayokekaung-Hsinma-Ngwehsaung-Chaungtha-Shwethaungyan-Magyisin-Kyaukchaun-Gwa coastal road.
The construction of the bridge which is over 1,398 feet long started on the 18th of November 2019 and it can withstand 75 tons of weight. This Gwa Creek Bridge is a reinforced concrete one built on bore-piles. The upper section of the bridge is made of P.C girders and R.C girders.
The bridge is made up of three 26.3 feet long sections, two 60 feet long sections and twelve 100 feet long sections. The road on the bridge is 24 feet wide and there will be one pedestrian lane on each side of the road.
The height of the bridge from the water level is 20 feet and the width of the navigation route is 85 feet.
