

The Ministry of Electric Poweris inviting tender for 18 solar power projects and arrangements are being made to implement these projects in timely manner for providing sufficient distribution of electricity in the coming summer.
The Ministry is also planning to generate more electricity from the existing dam and hydropower plants.
Director General, Department of Power Transmission and System Control (DPTSC), Thura Aung Bo said “As the government is distributing electricity for grass root people with the affordable price, only running the power plants by hydropower as themajorsource will reduce the production costs. So,it is currently maintained for long-term and run to increase the electricity production at hydropower plants.”
The Ministry also carry out systematic maintenance for long term durability of the dams, and also renovated the damaged dams.
Director General, Department of Power Transmission and System Control (DPTSC), Thura Aung Bo said “Water inflow levels and storage level in the dams is monitored on a daily basis during the current rainy season and manage systematically how to run the power plants to prevent water from being wasted in terms of the availability of water irrigation. Efforts are being made to repair 2-damaged Law-pi-ta power lines as soon as possible and to distribute electricity regularly in the coming summer.”
Plans have been drawn up to construct new hydropower projects and solar power plants for the long-term project. Moreover, the ministry also plans to buy surplus power from other foreign countries through interconnection power lines.
