




In Yangon Region, about 17 million cubic feet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is distributed daily through 40 CNG filling stations for YBS buses, taxis and other motor vehicles using CNG.
The CNG, generated from Maubin and Nyaungdon natural gas field is being sold at the respective filling stations from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm for CNG-powered vehicles running in Yangon Region.
Currently, 40 CNG filling stations are distributing CNG to more than 28,000 CNG vehicles, including buses, taxis and other motor vehicles.
General Manager, Natural Gas Vehicle Department, Kyaw Thura Win said "There are 6 CNG tank trailers and 35 CNG filling stations which distributed with pipeline network which are in total of 41 CNG filling stations in Yangon Region. Only 40 CNG filling stations out of 41 are opened daily across Yangon during public holidays starting from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm. Due to traffic congestion, the rest of 1 CNG tank trailer out of 41 was temporarily closed."
Despite the high price of fuel, the sale price of CNG is 273.25 kyats per kg as before.
General Manager, Natural Gas Vehicle Department, Kyaw Thura Win said "Around 17 million cubic feet of CNG per day are distributed daily to motor vehicles in Yangon. Over the past few years, the necessary spare parts are ordered for maintaining and repairing the equipment at the gas stations and maintenance and installation tasks are being made for the equipment."
Plans will be made for replacement of new compressors at the gas stations if it was needed, depending on the available funding budget.
