MoU Between Myanmar & India: Meeting On Rakhine State Development Projects

A coordination meeting on the projects that are being undertaken according to MoU between Myanmar-India was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and  Resettlement on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine said that according to an MOU signed between Myanmar and India in 2017 to carry out development tasks in Rakhine State, India will provide 25 million USD for five years at a rate of 5 million USD per year. In the 2018-2019 first year project, 60 houses were implemented in KyeinChaungTaung village, 148 houses in ShweZar village and 42 houses in NanthaTaung village in Maungdaw Township with 3.8 million USD.

A total of 250 houses have been built with the arrangement of the Indian Government. The Union Minister added that the meeting was held to discuss 13 projects that have been agreed with the Indian Government as the 2nd year project to be implemented by the relevant ministries and the state governments as soon as possible and 17 projects proposed for the third time. She called for the respective departments and organizations to make efforts for the completion of the tasks for those who will benefit from the projects.

The Rakhine State Chief Minister and the Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement discussed sector-wise implementations.
