Dry Zone Greening: MoNREC Union Minister Inspected Forests Conservation

The Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi on 7th May took a tour to Dagon Taing Dam watershed area plantation of 60 acres in Me Nyo Taung  forest Reserve, Ma Hlaing  Township, watershed plantation of 200 acres in Me Nyo Taung forest Reserve, Wan Twin  Township implementing by the Dry zone Greening Department under the ecosystem services of Myanmar arid area forest reserve and local products enhancement project.

The responsible officials clarified the implementations of plantations and facts about the project.

The Union Minister inspected the status of thriving plantations and gave necessary instructions. The Dryzone Greening Department is implementing the establishment of Me Nyo Taung  Forest Reserve and watershed plantations, protection of remaining natural forests, rehabilitation of plants, water supply and protecting soil erosion, preserving drought zone original species of woods and biodiversity with the project period from 2018-2023, it’s reported.
