Socio-economic Dev’t: Rubber seedlings provided to local growers

A ceremony to provide high-yield rubber seedlings for local farmers in Tanintharyi Region for 2021-2022 fiscal year and horticultural saplings to local orchard owners was held at the office of the Region Agricultural Department in Dawei on Tuesday.

At the ceremony, Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko said that the State Government and the Department of Agriculture are cooperating to provide high-yield rubber strains and horticultural seedlings suitable for the region for the benefit of local farmers.

During the rainy season, rubber farmers will have less income, so they have to distribute horticultural crops to plant as mixed cropping in the rubber plantations, with the aim of earning income all year round and to replace the old rubber trees with good varieties of young rubber plants.

Then, Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture said that the aim of providing rubber seedlings that are suitable with the region is to increase per acre yield, per capital income and socio-economic development of the locals. Then, the Region Chief Minister and the regional ministers provided seedlings to the farmers and cordially greeted them.
