The work process of preserving Mrauk-U ancient pagodas and removing moss, fungus and plants around the pagodas by using chemical solutions have been undertaking with the supervision of the Department of Archaeology and national Museum (Mrauk-U).
Director, Department of Archaeology and national Museum, Kyi Khin said "We have practiced to response earthquakes, flooding and storms systematically in line with the disaster management process. When the rain caused by the storm happens, we cover the pagodas with waterproof covers to prevent them from damage by water. Due to its geographical location, the risk of flooding in Mrauk-U is very low. And, most of the pagodas in Mrauk-U are located on hills and mountains so it’s less potential for flooding damage. As we use chemical solutions to remove plants around the pagodas, we can get rid of the plants without damaging the pagodas."
The Department of Archaeology and national Museum (Mrauk-U), Mrauk-U Cultural Heritage Conservation Association and the relevant organizations are cooperating to prevent damaging pagodas and cultural heritage in Mrauk-U.
