FM Haavisto on Finland's plans to join NATO

Foreign ministers of NATO countries with Finland as a special guest arrived in Berlin to attend an informal meeting on Saturday. Finland President called his Russian counterpart to inform him that Finland is now proceeding towards NATO membership, the Finnish Foreign Minister told the media upon his arrival.

Neighboring Sweden is expected to decide on joining NATO in coming days. But Turkish President said Friday that his country is "not favorable" toward the two Nordic countries joining NATO, indicating Turkey could use its membership in the Western military alliance to veto moves to admit the two countries.
