Illegal Trade: Illegal Timbers, Commodities, Vehicles Seized

The action is being taken under the law suversived by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee against illegal trades across the nation. On 2 May, the Rakhine State Forest Department seized illegal timbers in Taungup and Thandwe townships and on 3 May, the Bago Region Customs Department seized undocumented soft drinks and clothes in three vehicles.

On 4 May, the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) joint checkpoint of Kayin State seized the used materials for vehicles and machinery, an adjustable aluminium ladder and two vehicles that carried these illegal materials.

Similarly, the inspection team of the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint captured clothes that were more than the mentioned amount in ID.

Moreover, the Ayeyawady Region Forest Department seized illegal timbers in Yekyi Township.

On 5 May, the Bago Region Forest Department also confiscated illegal timbers in Yedashe Township of Toungoo District.

Therefore, according to the committee, 18 arrests (estimated value of 135.55 million Kyats) were made from 2 to 5 May.
