

Over 1,000 tons of coffee have exported from March 2021 to April 2022, according to the Myanmar Coffee Association.
Myanmar has over 30,000 acres of coffee plantations and most of the plantations have seen in Shan State.
Chairman, Myanmar Coffee Association, Myo Aye said “Coffee season is from December to March and we make harvesting during that time. There are 30,000 acres of coffee plantations which are mainly grew in Shan, Kayin and Chin States, Mandalay, Magway, Ayeyawady and Thaninthayi Regions.”
Starting 2014-2015, Myanmar produced its Specialty Coffee which previous produced the commercial one.
Myanmar’s Specialty Coffee was exported to foreign countries including the United States.
Chairman, Myanmar Coffee Association, Myo Aye said “Currently, Myanmar coffee is being produced not only as the specialty and premium coffee but also commercial coffee. Best quality coffee and specialty coffee are mainly exported to US, Europe countries, Japan and Korea.Commercial coffee is exported only to the neighboring countries, like China and Thailand. We tried hard to upgrade the quality of coffee from the commercial rate to the premium one. We will continue to keep the quality of Myanmar coffee.”
Coffee industry was first introduced in Myanmar in 1885 with Robusta species in Myeik and Dawei District of Taninthayi Region. In 1930, Arabica Coffee was initiated in Pyin Oo Lwin of Mandalay Region.
