Importing goods and commodities: Goods for import license application

Although the Ministry of Commerce has issued that the importing of goods would not be allowed without having import licenses or permits, some company businessmen have applied import licenses and permits only when the goods have been arrived.

It has announced that it has not been conducted absolutely applying of import licenses and permits after arriving the goods from 22nd April 2022. If it has been found that the goods have been arrived in advance through the official entry and exit points of Myanmar such as habour, airport and border crossings, actions would be taken in line with export and import law starting from 20th April.

The Director of Trade Department said that if it is failed to follow the rules and regulations and actions will be taken in line with section-6 of the Export and Import Law of Myanmar that it would be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or with fine or with both and according to the section -10 that the evidence exhibits involved in the crime would be nationalized.

The commodity lines that are needed to apply the import license have been issued by three stages. Starting 1st May 2022, the goods and commodities will be allowed to import only when they have been applied import license.
