



A delegation led by Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut visited Bangkok on 22 April at the invitation of Justice Minister of Thailand Mr Somsak Thepsutin.
The visit aims to promote the Myanmar-Thai drug control cooperation. The two sides cordially discussed joint drug control issues between the two countries, the success of the anti-drug special operation— Operation 1511/22 and plans for further cooperation.
They also observed the Office of the Narcotics Control Board’s management procedures for confiscating drug-related assets, the use of technology in the anti-drug activities, and the auction of seized assets. The delegation also studied the security measures, the rule of law and drug control activities at the Royal Thai Police’s Sai Mai Area Police Station and Maritime Police in Bangkok and drug control and observed the living and administrative support of police officers.
Member of the delegation, Joint Secretary of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control and Commander of Anti-Drug Police Force Police Brig-Gen Win Naing and party attended the 23rd Myanmar-Thailand Joint Drug Control Meeting on 22 April in Bangkok. The meeting discussed matters related to the drug situation in the region, control of the illegal entry of chemicals into the Golden Triangle region, prevention of the spread of drugs to the region and beyond, identification and arrest of suspects wanted by both countries, capacity building of drug-control offices and education campaigns on narcotics among young people.
