





Tea is grown in different states of Myanmar and the best quality teas are mainly cultivated in Shan State.
About 5000 acres of tea plantations are grown in Naungtaya, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone that produces quality tea in Myanmar. Now, dried tea leaves and fruit drying factory was opened in Naungtaya.
Tea Committee, Naungtaya, Khun Kyaw Thaung said "The planting area of tea leaves will be 4,000 and 5,000 acres in Naungtaya. In average, the production rate will be about 600,000 to 1millionvisses. Before establishing the dried tea factory, we sell tea leaves in a traditional way and we do not have finished product industry. As Naungtaya is a much rainfall area, the dried tea factory benefits to the locals for their tea business."
In the past, the locals can pluck off around 1200 to 1500 visses of tea per acre and now, they can pluck off around 3000 visses per acres after opening the dried tea and fruit drying factory. Naungtaya region produces about 2.7 million viss of tea leaves per year.
