Marine Products Export: Myanmar earned US$ 39 million during Mini Budget

The export amount of marine product via border trading has declined by over 56,000 tonnes compared to previous year, according to the official from the Ministry of Commerce.

The majority of decreased amount have been seen in the export of crabs and eels. Due to decrease in trading, the export value of marine products also declined by about US$ 41 million during this year.

Despite a drop in border trading, Myanmar can earn over $80 million more of marine products through maritime trading. So, the total export of marine products earned US$ 39 million.

Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Thaung Naing said "According to the statistics of trading during mini-budget period in 2021-2022 fiscal year, Myanmar exported about 210,000 tonnes of marine products through border trade camps to the neighboring countries. And the trading value is about US$ 219 million."

Myanmar mainly exports various fish, prawns, crabs, eels and other marine products to around 40 countries, including China, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and some European countries.
