






Relief items were provided to the victims of the strong wind that hit in Dekkhina District of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on 20th April. The strong wind destroyed a total of 1,039 houses and 8 monasteries in Lewe, Zabuthiri and Deckkhina Thiri Townships.
At the ceremony, held on Saturday, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr Maung Maung Naing said the strong wind is the most hit disaster in Nay Pyi Taw. The Disaster Management Committee has already drafted the response measures for disaster risk reduction, so that people will be resilient to natural disaster and could provide their contribution in the nation building endeavours.
The provisions included 156 buckets of relief items which worth over 49,000 kyats each for each damaged house, over 9.2 million kyats for rice ration to more than 4,000 affected people, and 41.8 million kyats worth construction materials for 1,039 households. Moreover, 100,000 kyats each were provided to 2 injured persons, and more than 59.3 million kyats worth construction materials to 8 damaged monasteries.
