Peru ecological group’s plant trees on Earth Day

Peruvian volunteers on Friday planted trees to mark Earth Day 2022. Dozens of volunteers planted more than 400 trees on more than 4,000 square meters to combat the desertification that threatens the area.

Coastal molle trees, River tamarind, mimosas and blackberries were the native species planted, as they are suited to the maritime climate of the area.

More than 3,500 trees have been planted in Magdalena del Mar since January 2019. Peru is one of the countries with the largest extension of drylands in South Latin America.
