






To meet the country’s growing demand for electricity, one out of the two natural gas-fired power plants is being constructed in Kyaukphyu Township of Rakhine State to supply capacity power of 135 MW and 150 MW.
The one which has a capacity of 135 MW is being implemented by Kyaukphyu Electricity Power Company which is jointly operated by the Chinese Company “Power China Resources Limited” and Myanmar’s Supreme Company. In December 2022, this power plant will be set to run.
The next power plant with a capacity supply of 150 MW was implemented by CNTIC VPower. Construction of the gas kit which will supply gas to this power plant will be completed in May this year. Upon completion, this power plant will produce 150 MW. Currently, this power plant can produce only 60 MW.
It’s learnt that the 2 power plants will produce combined capacity of 285 MW to increase the supply rate of Myanmar’s Electricity.
Ministry of Electricity and Energy is also planning to build gas-fired power plants in Magwe and Myingyan to provide the necessities of Electricity supply.
