Tens of thousands of faithful and pilgrims from all over the world gathered in St. Peter's Square on Sunday to attend Easter Mass celebrated by Pope Francis.

After the service, the pontiff appealed for world peace and against the consequences of a potential future nuclear war. He reiterated his condemnation of the war in Ukraine, but he also appealed for peace in the Middle East.

Francis also referred to other conflicts, calling for peace and reconciliation for the peoples of Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Libya, and especially mentioned Yemen.

He prayed for an end to violence in Congo and expressed solidarity with the people of South Africa affected by recent floods.
