Four orphaned bear cubs have been released back into the wild in California after six months in captivity. Three of the bears were released in Central California's Mariposa County near where they were found.
A fourth bear was released in Plumas County, where it was found with burned paws after a wildfire. All four bears were cared for by the San Diego Humane Society.
The three sisters and the single male were all about seven months old when they were found.
The San Diego Humane Society says that they prepared the bears for a return to the wild by minimizing human contact and giving them access to trees and the opportunity to forage for their food.
The bears were fitted with radio collars so their movements can be tracked by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
