The fishing vessels and fish carrier vessels are monitored by vessel monitoring system (VMS) in the Myanmar sea territory to control declining aquatic resources due to global warming and human activities.

The fishing is mostly carried out along the costliness of Rakhine and Mon States as well as Ayeyawady region and the fishery products are sent to abroad. Now the VMS is applied along the fishing coast with the aim of preventing from illegal fishing and trading of aquatic products.

Department of Fisheries in Nay Pyi Taw is monitoring as the control center. There are over 3000 fishing vessels and fish carrier vessels that are installed VMS. Yangon Region and Rakhine State is the most producers of fishery products.

As there is no fishing block in Yangon region, the fish are caught in the sea of Ayeyawady and Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State, Yangon region has the most numbers of fishing vessels and fish carrier vessels.

The fresh carp fish are exported to Bangladesh and other fishery products are exported to Thailand via Taninthayi region.
