A theatre in Lviv has been turned into a refugee centre for people fleeing the Russian invasion to the relative safety of western Ukraine. Dozens have moved into the 200-year-old building having abandoned their homes from across the country.

Natalia Rybka-Parhomenko, who volunteers at the theatre, says they are proud to give sanctuary to those in need. "Here we dress people, here they have a place to rest, here they have a place to eat," she said.

The United Nations refugee agency has estimated more than one million people have fled Ukraine, and even more displaced internally, in eight days of conflict so far.
