





COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee held a work coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Chairman of the Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win discussed that the infection rate of COVID-19 gradually increases since late January.
The infection rate reached over 8% in 16th February while it was over 1% in the first week of the month. Despite the containment measures, the infection rate increased due to the spread of Omicron variant, and most of the cases were found in Yangon Region with over 20%. Plans have been made for issuing separate SOP for the containment measures, and necessary preparations have already been made.
He urged all to strictly follow the COVID-19 preventive measures, and called for cooperation of each and every citizen. The Secretary of the Committee Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut also discussed the spread of Omicron variant, preventive measures and health screening at the check-points, vaccination process, production of oxygen, and preparations for treatment and quarantine facilities. It was followed by the general round of discussions. The Vice Senior General reviewed the discussions and coordinated the requirements.
