Shan Chieftain’s Palace: Replica of Kengtung Hawnan constructed

A replica of Kengtung HawNan will be built at the place adjacent to the HawNan Garden, near Naungtung Lake in Kengtung Township. A foundation laying ceremony for the replica HawNan was held on Thursday, with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

The ceremony was graced by the Patron Sayadaw of KengYun Monasatery and members of the Sangha. At the auspicious time, the Patron Sayadaw, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party drove the stake at the designated places, and sprinkled scented water on it. They later viewed the salient points of KengTung HawNan.

As the desire of the relatives of KengTung Chieftain Sao Kawng Kiao Intaleng and local residents, construction of the replica of HawNan or Chieftain’s Palace was carried out undet the guidance of the SAC Chairman. Moreover, the HawNans of MongPon Chieftain Sao San Tun and Theinni Chieftain Hkun Sang Ton Hong have been renovated and MongPon HawNan was completed cent percent in February last year while Theinni HawNan was completed over 60%.

The Prime Minister and party later visited ThitTapin Hill resort and viewed the resin tree, planted during the reign of King Alaung Min Tayagyi in 1753 and other flora in the garden. The Prime Minister instructed to carry out long term conservation works for the historic place.
