The European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety said European nations needed to do more to help countries trailing behind on COVID-19 vaccine rollouts.

"No one is safe until everyone is safe", Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety told. Kyriakides made the remarks as many rich Western countries - key donors for WHO - have been easing restrictions to fight the pandemic after COVID-19 cases have begun falling. She stressed the need to actively counter the vast inequality when it comes to global immunization. Although vaccine supplies have increased, many African states have been slower to roll out jabs. Only about 10% of people in low income countries have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
