SCarolina prepares for severe snow, icy conditions

South Carolina governor Henry McMaster urged people to stay at home after weather forecasters predicted a severe winter storm with snow and ice as far south as Georgia.

At a news conference on Saturday, McMaster said "this is going to be a pretty bad storm."  "We need to prepare for the time to prepare for that is not then, but now," he added.

The National Weather Service said from 2 inches to 5 inches of snow could fall as far south as northeast Georgia from Saturday evening though Sunday.
