



Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo met with the principal, faculty members and administrative staff of the Institute of Agriculture in Pyinmana Township on Sunday.
After the meeting, the Union Minister inspected the campus of the institute and observed the cleanliness of the environment and the preservation of the nearly 100-year-old ancient buildings built in the year of 1924. Also, the Union Minister discussed libraries upgrade at institutes, library and knowledge exchange between the University of Agriculture, University of Veterinary Science and agricultural institutes.
The Union Minister also stressed the need to encourage self-employment and subsistence farming in staff housing to provide nutrition and family income, and quality construction of staff housings. He also inspected the livestock education classroom and construction sites of laboratory and training facilities. The Union Minister also visited the model GAP vegetable farm.
There are 15 institutes of agriculture in various regions and states in addition to University of Agriculture and University of Veterinary Science. Those institutes extend the livestock diploma courses from the start of this academic year to provide vocational training. It’s reported that a plan is underway to conduct the diploma courses in industrial agriculture.
